This 10-pointed icon , wattizit?

looks middle-eastern, persian, perhaps? arabic? uzbheki?? where is it from, what is the social/historical context, does it have any exo- or esoteric meaning(s)? i am curious you see, for i have this tatooed on my sternum. any help would be much appreciated. mahalo, jonathan

It is just an image I made and thought would look nice as the icon. Of course, star symbolism is widespread though most mythologies of the world & you can venture off on that tangent.

kmkrebs, you MADE this 10p star? nice work, how did you generate it, and more so, how did you arrive upon 10 points? 8, 12, 16 etc is so much more common. 10 pointed stars i only rarely see. What moved you to ten? mahalo, decimalhead

I used the kalidiscope plugin for the the gimp.. I'm not sure what the source image was; coloured images from alchemical manuscripts I think. Why 10 points? Because it looked pleasing. I've been working for quite some time on a large project involving these types of images & mandalas.
